Webkinz websites earning $800/mo via AdSense

100% organic traffic. webkinz-cheats.com, webkinz-recipes.com, webkinz-codes.com

  • Listed: Tue, 21 Aug 2007 15:50:32 GMT

Description:

What’s for sale?
(1) Webkinz-Cheats.com domain and all site content.
(2) Webkinz-Recipes.com domain and all site content.
(3) Webkinz-Codes.com domain.

How much money are the sites currently making?
About $800.00 per month. Please scroll down to the "Revenue Details" section below for details and screenshot links.

What kind of traffic do they get?
All traffic is organic. Webkinz-Cheats.com averages between 8,000 and 12,000 page impressions daily from about 1,600 – 2,300 daily visitors. It is very dependant upon school schedules (due to the target audience). During the summer the traffic has been fairly spread around the day, but now that we are getting into the school year, the traffic seems to come mostly in the afternoons and the weekends. This is the same as it was before the summer season began. I have had Google Analytics setup on the site for a while now and I have included an overview of the last 30 days in a screenshot here (http://www.webkinz-cheats.com/sell/webkinz-cheats-analytics-1.gif). You’ll notice the “Goal Conversions” there. That was setup to track Google AdSense clicks using the asclick javascript. About 15% of visitors click through to at least one ad. As another point of reference I have created another screenshot for the previous 30 days here (http://www.webkinz-cheats.com/sell/webkinz-cheats-analytics-2.gif). The traffic mainly comes from Google searches. I have created another screenshot for the last 60 days to show traffic sources here (http://www.webkinz-cheats.com/sell/webkinz-cheats-analytics-tr.gif). If there are any other reports you would like to see from Analytics, please don’t hesitate to ask. Also, I have had the site listed at Sedo since its start, and you can view those stats by clicking the appropriate links near the bottom of any page. Please note that a new day starts at Sedo at 5pm (US, Central Time), so the daily stats between Google Analytics and Sedo are slightly different.

Webkinz-Recipes.com is just getting its start. The traffic is coming mainly from Google search and a Webkinz-Cheats.com reference. Here is the Analytics for the site since its start (http://www.webkinz-recipes.com/sell/webkinz-recipes-analytics.gif). It’s Google search results rank for the term “Webkinz recipes” has been rapidly climbing. At the time of this writing it is in the number 11 position and my prediction is that it will be in the top 10 by the time the auction is over. I am making this prediction because (1) the site is brand new and has already got to its current position, (2) the site only has about a 29% bounce rate, (3) users spend an average of over 4 minutes for each visit, and (4) the system has a unique tool (competitively speaking) that allows users to “suggest” new recipes.

What does it take to maintain the sites?
Webkinz-cheats.com runs on a slightly modified version of a piece of software that I will be releasing soon called kwikcontent. Kwikcontent taps into a handful of the Yahoo! APIs and make up the content found in the “images”, “other websites” and “knowledge base” portions of the site. That information can be updated at any time via the site’s admin panel. As a side note, the Kwikcontent system has not yet been launched, but you can find out a little bit about it at http://www.kwikcontent.com. The kwikcontent system also allows you to add articles to the site. I have personally written 3 of the articles on the site and hired a ghostwriter to write the one generic Webkinz article. If you do a plagiarism search you will see that many other people have duplicated a couple of these articles word-for-word. A peak at the Internet Archive should confirm that they first appeared on this site (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://webkinz-cheats.com). I update the Yahoo! API content about once per week and it takes all of 20 minutes to do. NOTE: The winner will need a Yahoo! Application ID to run the site. It is completely free and can be obtained here (http://search.yahooapis.com/webservices/register_application). I also (just over this past weekend) launched the new contest on the site (read home page to see more). If the winner wants to keep that going it shouldn’t take much more than picking a winner once per week, contacting them and shipping them a few packs of the cards. The cards can be bought online or at a ton of different stores for between $2 and $4 per pack.

Webkinz-Recipes.com only has one section that requires attention. Users can suggest recipes on the site. Those recipes get queued in a “Pending Recipes” section of the admin panel. The winner will probably want to grab a Webkinz account and test those to ensure they work. It has taken me about 30 minutes per week thus far… and it looks like the site already holds most of the known recipes.

How are the sites programmed?
I custom created both sites. There are no “cookie cutter” scripts in use here… although I will release a slightly different version of the kwikcontent software sometime soon. Both sites are developed using an MVC framework via PHP and MySQL. Both sites are also fully templated using Smarty. This is a total overkill for the Webkinz-Recipes.com site, but that’s the geek in me I guess. Both sites make use of a simple .htaccess file placed in the root web directory for the SEO-styled URLs. I can provide additional information as needed.

How much disk space/bandwidth is used?
Disk space usage is currently just over 40 Megs total. Bandwidth for July was just over 6 Gigs. This site should run just fine on just about any well managed *nix-based hosting package that allows a MySQL database and htaccess files. I would be happy to suggest a host if needed.

Why am I selling?
I don’t “need” the money… and the other projects I’m working on are all fully funded. For me, it’s just time to sell. My expertise lies in solid programming and sustainable SEO. I’m just not much of a good search marketing expert. I have never even tried to manipulate the AdSense ads on the site, because I really don’t have to know-how to ensure that I’m doing “the right thing.” Given the target audience of this site and the great traffic it gets, I’m sure the right person can monetized this much better than I can.

Price for websites.
I am starting this auction at $1,000. I have a reserve set at $5,000.00 and a Buy It Now set at a very respectable $9,000.00. I feel that these figures are fully justified on the AdSense revenue alone, but in the right hands it could be a steal.

Payment and transfer of ownership.
Payment is due within 24 hours of auction close. I am open to just about any payment method that protects both of our interests. Due to other Internet properties I own I am a 1,000+ verified Paypal account holder (which should verify I am a trustworthy individual). I have never used escrow (other than buying/selling sites at Sedo), so if that is preferred the buyer will have to bear with me as I learn how the preferred system works. If the buyer would like to use Sedo to complete the transaction I may be able to get them to give me a better rate than their typical 10% due to past transactions I have done with them. I will not bear those costs, but I may be willing to split them with the buyer. In any event, please PM me your thoughts/questions on this matter.

I am happy to lend a hand in the transfer of the site to the winner’s server so long as it is *nix-based and has easy access to a cPanel, Plesk Panel, or some other similar server administration tools.

The domains are all registered at GoDaddy and will be pushed free once the transfers are complete.
