Description:

Help4BreastCancer.com

Overview:

Help4BreastCancer.com boasts over 8,000 members and over 3,000 unique visitors per day during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The site is among the most popular breast cancer awareness websites on the internet.

Description:

Help4BreastCancer.com affords its members the opportunity to both earn free breast cancer gear and to promote breast cancer awareness. Members create an account on the site, fill out offers, and receive points for each offer completed. Offers are obtained through CPA (Cost per Action) advertising brokers who pay Help4BreastCancer.com for each offer completed. Once members earn enough points, they may redeem their points for awareness apparel including Victoria's Secret gift cards, breast cancer bracelets, ribbons, jewelry, and other breast cancer apparel. The site also maintains a "Free Bracelet" section where users complete an offer for a free pink breast cancer awareness bracelet. Additionally, the site has a "Shop" section where members can shop at their favorite online stores, earning Help4BreastCancer.com a percentage of the sale. .

As added motivation for its members, Help4BreastCancer.com donates a portion of its revenue towards breast cancer. Donations are made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, of which $1,010.52 has already been donated. Verification of the donation can be found under the "Results" section of the site. While the current owners have strived to make donating to breast cancer a significant goal of the site, no specific percent of revenue is guaranteed to be donated towards breast cancer. Although donating helps to motivate the members, the amount donated will be at the discretion of the new owner of the site. With the sale of this site, you will be able to gain full credit for the donation made by our site.

Traffic:

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), the site received approximately 3,000 unique hits per day. The site averages about 1,000 unique hits per day for other months. The majority of the site's traffic comes from referrals, returning users, and search engines. Help4BreastCancer.com is listed on the first page of Google and Yahoo for several mid-level keywords. Referral growth is driven by members receiving points for referring new members to the site. The referral method has played a large role in member growth. The freebie forums are often places where members try to recruit other members, and we get a large majority of hits from them.

Paid search engine campaigns are also employed for gaining traffic from targeted keywords. The keywords and bid prices currently used will be revealed upon purchase of the site. As of November 2007, Help4BreastCancer.com's Alexa Ranking reached 185,000.

As a side note for traffic, we have halted our marketing efforts recently as a result of pursuing other projects. For this reason, our traffic has fallen below our normal 1,000 average (around 400 a day). If marketing efforts were resumed, this number is easily attainable.

Revenue:

Help4BreastCancer.com has generated upwards of $4,000 a month in revenue during peak months. Between the Months of October through April we made $12,048 (the site was down for the month of February). During an average month we make $2000+. Offers earning revenue for the site are obtained through four different CPA companies. Many members come to the site, create an account, fill out a few offers, and then give up before they have enough points to cash out. Since relatively few members are dedicated enough to earn the points needed to cash out, much of the revenue is retained as profit. The site also runs CPM ads which generates between $20-30 a month. The "Shop" section of the site uses links brokered by Commission Junction, Linkshare, and Share-a-Sale. The "Shop" section is an area of the site which offers a great deal of growth if developed. We currently took down the shop section of the site because we did not have time to maintain it.

A periodic newsletter tells members what is new with the site and promotes various offers. The newsletter is quite profitable, as it usually earns $150-$200 each time it is sent out. Currently, the newsletter is emailed once a month; however, an opportunity for revenue growth exists if the newsletter becomes weekly.

The "Free Bracelet" section of our site is very popular among site visitors. Pink breast cancer bracelets can be purchased for around 30 cents each (our contact will be included with purchase of the site). In order for the user to get their free bracelet, they must fill out two, one-page submit offers and then forward their confirmation email to Help4BreastCancer.com. In the past, users will fill out one or both of the offers, but will fail to forward the confirmation email. As Help4BreastCancer.com requests a confirmation email to verify the offer was completed, few users receive a bracelet. In addition to the revenue generated by the "Free Bracelet" section of the site, this section acts as an advertising method to bring users to the site and those users often go on to create membership accounts and fill out other offers. On average, 1 in 4 people who create an account fill out at least one offer.

Expenses:

-$3.99 a month for GoDaddy hosting

-$20 a month for paid search campaigns

-$0.30 cents per bracelet, though few needed for shipment

-Various apparel earned by members, though infrequent and usually costing around $20 per item cashed out

The domain is hosted by GoDaddy. The domain will be listed in your trust once payment is received.

Potential:

Help4BreastCancer.com has a great deal of potential. With some hard work, the site can get to the $10k a month mark easily. The niche applies to a broad spectrum of people and there is no other site like this on the web. The only other breast cancer themed website on the internet with an incentive base brought in over $7 million last year, and that site has a much different twist to it than Help4BreastCancer.com. It is estimated that if the traffic exceeds 1200 hits a day, revenue would increase to approximately $200 a day.

Included with purchase:

Hosting for Help4BreastCancer.com. The domain name is paid for an entire year. The buyer will be provided with all apparel contacts including a Victoria's Secret wholesaler and a pink breast cancer bracelet wholesaler. Training in the operation of the site is also included with purchase.

Reason for Selling:

The current owners of Help4BreastCancer.com are interested in pursuing another online venture. They do not have the time to invest in Help4BreastCancer.com for it to reach its full potential. Additionally, the current owners need to raise funds for their new venture.

We have a bid price in mind, and we will not sell unless it is close to that number.

Questions to the Seller

  1. I know you asked for PMs, but having the questions and answers here on the listing benefits everyone. Here are my questions:
What percentage of revenue are you currently donating to cancer awareness?
How much time is spent each week sending out prizes and otherwise managing the site?
Someone purchasing the site will also be taking on the responsibility for paying off on points accumulated but not paid out in prizes. How many points have members accumulated but not redeemed?
What do the points cost you to redeem (xxx points buys a XXXX that costs you $xx to purchase and $x to ship)?
What was the total income and expenses for each of the last six months?
What was the breakdown (sources and amounts) of income and expenses for April?

  2. In regards to our PageRank. Our site is a year old and we only have a pagerank of one, but the whole point of page rank is to get good search engine placement. As you can see, we are currently #3 on google for a very competitive keyword "Breast Cancer Apparel" and are constantly going from first page to second page for the word "Breast Cancer Information". Both of these keywords get us alot of hits. We also get a lot of hits from middle class keywords such as "victoria's secret apparel" ect. The other majority of our traffic comes from freebie forums. There are groups of people obsessed with freebie stuff and every now and again people post about our free bracelet section and our traffic goes through the roof. Alot of people try to earn points via referrals as well.

As stated, we have a low page rank, and are still getting solid results. This can be seen as an opportunity to make the site even stronger. I have no doubt that if someone put their heart and soul into the site, and got the page rank up, the site can generate $10k+ a month. Unfortunately, i do not have the time put that effort forth.

I will respond to much more of the questions i am receiving within the next 24 hours.

  3. Ryan,

Thanks for your feedback. I would suggest you leave all buyers questions here active rather than taking them off. It just looks weird. Thanks

  5. In regards to LostFan's Questions:
As stated in the description, we have no set percentage that we designate as a donation, and infact a donation isn't even required at all. We just decided that given the nature of the site, a donation would seem right. If you buy the site, there is no rule that you must donate. Breast Cancer is simply a theme, and the truth is, whether it's 1 cent being donated or 1 million dollars, if it wasn't for the effort you put forth on the website, no money would be donated at all.

Very few people gain enough points to cashout a prize, and typically the ones who do are the people who fill out multiple ringtone/credit card offers. These offers pay quite well (normally around $10-$30). The way the point system is set up, is that the amount of points is equal to half that of the offer. So a $1.00 offer is worth 50 points, a $10.00 offer is worth 500 points ect. Out of the sites 8000 members, probably around 20-30 people total cashed out a prize. Most people just fill out an offer or 2 then quit, meaning you profit everything. When someone does cashout, just contact the wholesaler for that item and they will drop ship the item for you.

Our revenue statistics can be found in the description in the listing. One of the big things i wanted to point out is that alot of our money comes from an opt-in when people create accounts. Basically, when someone creates an account we have an offer underneath the forms saying "I am interested in...." For everyone who submits with the opt-in box checked, they sign up for that offer. These offers typically pay $1.00-2.00 per person. This is one of our top money earners. Infact there was a day in October when we made $200 just from opt-ins for that day. Unfortunately our programmer who we had doing the coding for the opt-ins disappeared on me, and we have not had the time to put in the effort to find a new programmer (who does a good job) to create a well converting opt in. Just another way you can fully monetize the site and produce a better revenue.

  7. Our pagerank shows up as a zero because we just changed our hosting service to Godaddy and it takes a month or so for the Googles spider to recrawl and regrade our pagerank. The hosting we used before was majorly overpriced and unnecessary so we figured for the sake of selling the site, we would use cheaper hosting for our costs to be smaller. Prior to switching our hosts, our pagerank was a 1. We have some inbound links, and some more link exchange promises, but the fact of the matter is that the only thing pagerank is good for is to determine your search rankings, and as you can see we are in good position for a lot of competitive keywords.

  8. Using Keyword Discover "Breast Cancer Apparel" shows only 5 searches a month. And competition for theat keyterm isn't very competitive. But still I don't doubt that this is a good keyword to have ranked for since other well established sites are competiting for that terms. I want to see full details along with information on work that was done to rank it. thanks.
