Description:

VentureAce.com was created in November 2004, originally to document my career as a professional poker player. It has become a top resource for aspiring poker pros, who want to read about their favourite players and learn basic poker strategy.

The content is the strength of the site. In total, there are 138 unique pages, all written by myself. Most have received on-page optimization.

Visitors are attracted by the initial success story which branches in to the poker journal. Interlinked are pages detailing poker pros, tournaments, terms and more. The site is well structured, which adds to its good standing in Google.

The website comes with both the .com and .net extensions. The .com expires in 2012, the .net in June (I will renew this soon). Both are registered with GoDaddy.com.

The reason I am selling the site is that I no longer play or follow poker.

If I have left anything out, please ask and I will be happy to answer. You can also contact me via Skype – nomzo.support

Revenue Details:

Revenue is earned from advertising, affiliate programs and link sales.

The site receives unsolicited advertising inquires nearly every day. In June 2006, I was approached by a major online poker site about advertising, they have renewed the deal every 6 months since then.

In December 2007 and January 2008, I sought advertisers for the first time by posting on Digital Point and Poker Affiliate World. This boosted revenue with $933 in link sales. So far this year the site has earned $3,500, the majority from 6-month prepaid advertising deals.

2008 (January-March)

Total Revenue = $3,669

Advertising - $2,475

Link sales - $933 (of which $488 was earned in December 2007. I have included it here as most of the deals were for 3 or 6 months)

Affiliate - $261 (ReferBack)

2007

Total Revenue = $4,690

Advertising - $3,840

Affiliate - $737.69 (Party Poker), $111.92 (ReferBack)

2006

Total Revenue = $2,290

Advertising - $1500

Affiliate – $630.14 (Party Poker), Refer Back & Gaming Club <$100

Extra Incentive Bonuses (see http://www.ventureace.com/online-poker-bonus.htm) -  PokerStars $300 revenue,  $100 profit.

Costs

The only outgoing cost for the site is hosting. As the site is completely static html except a few PHP pages, bandwidth and hosting costs are minimal.

Traffic Details:

Traffic comes mostly from Google relating to "professional poker player" keywords. Most visitors are from the UK or US (see screenshots).

  2. I am from the UK, so I don't really know the laws concerning US citizens and promoting gambling online.

Here is an article from a good source about it - http://www.pokeraffiliateprograms.com/blog/2007/12/19/is-being-a-us-poker-affiliate-legal/
