Description:

*Relisted

This site was on Sitepoint a couple weeks ago for sale, with a winning bid of $3,000 with 28 bids. Unfortunately the winning bidder was unable to produce the necessary funds when I contacted him. The original listing of this site was by mpcovcd who was brokering the site for me. I have decided it would be best to relist the site on my own. I am the owner (and founder) of the listed site.

Description

DNLodge has been a dream site to own, for over three years I have been laboring day and night making the forums the best they could be. The day has finally come for me to sell off the site for off the web / local ventures I am pursuing. Over the past 6 months I’ve been neglecting dnlodge while taking on different projects offline which took the majority of my time. I’ll be using funds collected from this sale to aid the development of my offline venture.

DNLodge is a rapidly growing source of information catering specifically to webmasters, designers, developers, and web professionals since 2005. We strive to provide a wide variety of unique content that proves valuable to all of our visitors. DNLodge is divided into six major content areas; forums, articles, tutorials, interviews, web tools, and miscellaneous services (Please check beta version – details below)

The forums as you can see currently are very active, with many guests online at any given time and many active members. We prune the forums periodically, thus showing only active members, recent threads and posts. There are 8,100 Threads, 44,000 Posts, and 6,850 members and growing at a rapid rate. The forum runs on a owned license of vBulliten ($160) and vBSEO($150), with a 100% forum design.

I am also excited to announce that our beta version of the site (not yet released) will be included in the sale. Revenue Details:

All revenue comes from advertisement and link sales. We do not use a third party advertising platform such as Adsense (But it would boost revenue greatly) we have our own system. The site pulled in about $200 monthly from advertisement sales, as you can see the full details from last year (attached). There is a wide margin for growth; we never really concentrated on revenue generation. Please see attached AWStats Screen shots. Also keep in mind the traffic has been slipping because the site has been running itself for nearly 6 months now.

Traffic Details:

I spend $0 on advertising on this site. This site hasn't been promoted in 6 months at all. Traffic easily reached 1,000 uniques PER DAY when I promoted it.

  4. k3nigmatic: The site had a PR 5 homepage (dnlodge.com) and all sub pages were PR 4 and 3's.

In anticipation for DN Lodge 2.0 I moved the forums to dnlodge.com/forums which forced Google to reindex all pages of the site (lost some major rankings). In effect, most the site is currently PR 0.

  5. @babyboy808: Link selling may contribute to the decrease in pagerank, but the reason it's at 0 is above. Selling links would never bring a PR 5 site all the way down to PR 0.

  6. The site was sold for $3000 under an agent - how come you cut out the agent and have increased the BIN by $600?

  7. @designcrowd: $3,000 was not a BIN. It was simply the highest bid. A BIN was never set for the last auction.

  8. Very nice site, are ALL pages editable via the CMS or not? for example: the about page, is it easily editable? what about the advertising prices, how complex would it be to change the prices without getting problems with current recurring advertisements?

    - Will you stay around for 2 months to assist new owner with settling in?
    - Do most members know you by name? don't you think it will make them leave if you sell to a new owner?
    - What Geoserv and the other two moderators, are they willing to stay with the new owner coming in?
    - How many new posts/day?
    - How do you explain the very small member:guest online ratio? 2:203!

  9. Actually, I had a PR6 site once upon a time which was penalised dropping to PR0 for 3 months. It does happen. Nice site though

  10. Heatmaster:

    1) I will definitely assist the new owner in any way possible.
    2) I dont think members will leave just because there is a new owner.
    3) I haven't talked to the moderators about that. Since they are volunteer, I can't gaurentee they'll stay.
    4) About 20-30 news posts per day.
    5) The guest count is guests in the last 90 minutes. I think search engine spiders may inflate that number.

  13. Wow, I'm surprised nobody has snatched this up. I certainly would if I didn't have my hands full with a lot of things. Worth far more than the BIN price IMHO...

  15. 4500 is the best price for this forum i guess and you shouldn't wait for any other offer and better sell him right now.
whosoever had given you a private bid of 4500, why didn't he simply get this site on 3600 BIN price here on this thread? lol.

  16. A lot of great "offers" on this website (there are even guys who would pay $4500 even though they can have it for $3600), but its never being sold and listed off. What's going on ?

  17. juliensa, if you need an explanation, when I submitted the listing I had the BIN at 3600. In the old marketplace, you were able to adjust (raise and lower) the BIN price all you wanted. I was not aware that you could ONLY lower the BIN and not raise it. As soon as I realized this right after I submitted the listing, I emailed sitepoint and asked them to raise it for me. They responded 3 days later (great service huh?) and said it was too far into the auction to do so.
