Description:

The website has been launched at the beginning of the year and grew considerably. It has received links from important websites such as Gizmodo, BoingBoing, NewsWeek and CNN, high SERP and several inside pages with PR1-6. Little effort is needed to promote the articles, since the readers do it on their own.

The website has a custom design based on a 200$ Wordpress theme, with added features for reducing bounce rate and increasing number of page views, now at 2 per visit.

The blog has provided a steady income from PPC and CPM networks, as well as advertising contracts and featured posts, at around 300-600$/month in april. In May, we signed a contract with a top advertising network that handles all the US impressions. We are currently in beta tests with a Nokia company that will export the content to mobile phoes.

Questions to the Seller

  1. Your site is interesting but frankly the price is way out of market..if you could lower it you'd probably get more responses

  2. I'm curious why your minimum bid is over 3 years worth of the site's income. I'm not saying your site is not worth that, but at that price point your going to have to provide a few reasons why anyone would be interested in paying 40 months worth of income for this.

  4. You've been in existence for less than five months and almost 90% of your traffic is referrals. Am I safe in assuming that a good chunk of those are paid referrals or ads? If so, how much has been invested in paid traffic or advertising?

Also, I'd be interested in seeing your traffic stats.

  5. A few of the reasons would be that the website is constantly growing, experiencing a 120% growth in the last 3 months. The premium advertising is served by Break, while the non-US impression can be filled out with any other network. Exporting the mobile content can mean an increased number of unique visitors and the possibility to serve mobile ads. We have also started monetizing the hot-babes subdomain, with CPM ranging from $1 to $10.

None of the traffic is paid. We never needed to pay for traffic or advertising for that matter, all of it is organic.
The Sassy Eskimo - PM'd you the traffic stats.

  7. I agree. Pricing is fairly high.

How much time is spent is spent each week researching new articles, gathering images and copyrights, etc?

Your traffic numbers in such are short period of time are impressive. Great job.

  9. I wanted to edit the revenue, since it's not totally accurate, but I get an error everytime I try to save the new details. Here are the traffic and revenue stats for last month: http://www.wackyarchives.com/stats/.

mimmson - It usually takes us 1-2h a day.

  10. "mimmson - It usually takes us 1-2h a day."
Let's take the average and say 1.5 hours. That means you work 45 hours a month to make $600. If you value your time at $20/hour you're making a loss of $300/month.

  11. Well, this is done 5 days a week and it's not a full time job. We haven't focused on finding advertisers so with some other deals, your time would probably be worth more.

  13. Hi Valerie,

Content originates from several sources we will provide. We also feature content from large websites, when we feel it will interested our readers. We spend around 1-2h daily managing it, free weekends :).

  20. Hi, I have some questions:

    - What are your monthly expenses, gross and net profit?
    - What is your monthly bandwidth usage?
    - What should be the server specs to run the site proper
    - Will you do the install and setup on my dedicated server including DNS setup?
    - How much HD space are you using right now and what's the growth rate?
    - Do you use load balancing?
    - Where do you get the content from?
    - What did you do for marketing?
    - What's your price for buy it now?
    - How many ads do you have in rotation and can you control what ads will be shown and what not?
    - Can you put up own ads not from an ad network? Basically selling the ad space directly.
    - You are using wordpress or just the design? Is this based on a CMS and if so is there any custom coding involved in it?
    - Do you have a trusted developer or did you develop your self?
    - What backed/admin features does the site have. If you are using a known CMS then pleas provide the link?
    - Do you have a business or any kind of project plan?
    - Any contacts you have? You mentioned Nokia!?

Thank you for answering my questions.

    Best regards

    More questions will probably come!
