Description:

FreeDVD4Me.com was one of the first three dvd-oriented incentive sites and has been around since 2003, generating gross monthly revenue of as much as $33,000 (August 2003) and monthly net revenue of as much as $20,000. From January 2003-December 2005, the period of heaviest activity / marketing, gross revenue was $316,187.00. From Jan. 2003 - March 2004, it was my full-time job and my time was fully dedicated to its development. However, in March of 2004 I co-founded OfferFusion, Inc., a full-service online advertising network that quickly became my main focus and full-time occupation. Within several months, I no longer had the time to dedicate to FreeDVD4Me.com. I tried hiring an off-site partner to manage it, but he also had another business and FreeDVD4Me.com went largely dormant, with next to no active promotion and very little paid advertising to drive traffic. In the last year or more, revenue has declined to levels of no more than a couple hundred dollars per month in line with the activity surrounding the site's promotion and marketing.

The site is fully functional around account, title and points databases, and is tied into Overstock.com's complete dvd catalog via datafeed import. There are over 34,000 full registered members and over 65,000 promo-members who completed signups on any one of a number of stand-alone promo sites such as http://www.freedvd4me.com/pro.php. These sites are included and are designed to drive standalone traffic to that is later converted to members within the main site. Records on all members include full postal, first and last name, and most include dob and gender. All have agreed to t&c's outlined on the main site or promo pages.

Complete financial records including advertising breakdown by traffic source, income by network/agency, etc. is available upon request and signed NDA.

The main site functions as an incentive advertising model, partnering with cpa networks including SearchCactus, Azoogleads, Incentaclick, Metareward (prior to its purchase by Experian) and OfferFusion on a model where users complete offers from dozens of advertisers. The commission earned by the site then translates to "DVD Points" to the user, where the user then accumulates points to redeem for DVDs of their choosing, based on point values generated using formulas in the system. Typical profit margins, at current levels, are in the 50% range, where $40 in commission revenue translates to roughly $20 in DVD Points to the user. This can be adjusted to whatever levels the buyer desires.

The "mini pages" or promotional pages function on a one-off model, where users do not create an account with the main site and no points are involved. They simply select the dvd of their choosing and complete any one of the featured offers within the final page of the reg path. Once verification is received from the advertiser, the dvd is sent to the user.

Full training and explanation of all the established methods and practices of the site will gladly be provided.

Server logs for as far back as I can gather will also be available. There has been little in the way of traffic in the last six months. For most of 2007, it averaged 25,000-35,000 visitors per month. At its peak in 2003-2004 those numbers were in the 500,000-1,000,000 per month range.

Please let me know what other questions I can answer, I'm sure I'm missing some points here.

Revenue Details:

From January 2003-December 2005, the period of heaviest activity / marketing, gross revenue was $316,187.00, an average of $8782.00 per month. During the period in which the site was being promoted and advertised, with members being actively refreshed and new users developed, monthly gross revenue was as high as $33,000 with net above $20,000.

Traffic Details:

Traffic has been generated via all available avenues: natural search, paid search from top tier (Google, Yahoo, MSN) to lower tier (7Search, Roar, etc) engines, email marketing, coregistration, banner placements across a number of cpa networks, cpc banner and text campaigns, interstitials, sponsored promotion, contextual advertising, etc. The most productive traffic, of course, has always been generated from member traffic / user retention.

  5. We ran several cpa offers on the network to the site and its associated standalone promo pages for a couple years (as you can see by looking at the OfferFusion document attached, showing the revenue paid out to FreeDVD4Me from our network) but as I said, I had/have no time to do the day-to-day work required to keep FreeDVD4Me running efficiently. It's not an issue of not being able to turn cpa traffic to the site, it's the work required in running the site that I don't have time for.
