Description:

OVERVIEW
GameAlmighty.com provides video game enthusiasts with a wide range of offerings, including video game previews and reviews, the latest industry news and commentary, informative video features, as well as user-generated editorial and creative content – all in a wildly entertaining format.

WHY WE ARE SELLING
Frankly, we expected to be able to eventually compete with IGN and GameSpot, but we ran out of money. The site has tons of potential still, but we have already invested a lot of time and money and are moving on to something else. But our loss is your gain - you get to take the business from where it is now after we have spent all of the time, energy, and money to get it here and you get it all at a fraction of what we spent. All you need to do now is add content!

REVENUE
We never focused on revenue AT ALL. We were building the platform, building the brand, and working on perfecting content. We ran some AdSense, but it never added up to more than a few hundred $ a month. We were approached by some companies for direct ad deals, but were a little too small to close the deals.

TRAFFIC
We have been able to generate good traffic. The formula has been to create good content and then seed it through social tools (digg, etc), forums, and other normal marketing methods. At our peak we did ~100k uniques in a month (as counted by Google - our other analytics package counted much higher). Lately we have not been able to focus on the site as we are winding down our operations. Traffic has still held up though.

TECHNOLOGY

GameAlmighty.com is built on the super-solid professional CMS & framework Typo3 (see www.typo3.com). It is easy to customize and very powerful. The purchase of this site includes 20+ hours of email/phone training for Typo3 CMS and other site questions. We are currently paying WAY too much for hosting at RackSpace.com. This auction includes 2 weeks of hosting, but we highly recommend you move to a cheaper host.

AWARDS
We won 3 "Best in Class" design awards from the IMA for "Entertainment", "Ratings & Reviews", and "Web Design & Development". See http://www.interactivemediaawards.com/winners/certificate.asp?param=41255&cat=1 and http://www.interactivemediaawards.com/winners/winners.asp .

BUZZ
Game reviews by GameAlmighty.com are listed in GameRankings.com! Also, GameAlmighty has received significant buzz from YouTube videos, bloggers, etc. Just google it and you'll see TONS of links and hilarious videos.

  3. Awesome site. I have to ask, you say the site is hosted by Rackspace? They should do some server tweaking cause this thing is majorly slow.

  9. A few answers to questions:

We do have relationships with publishers to get games. However, you need to manually update game listings, etc.

Yes, with Rackspace. And yes, it isn't ideal. :) Should be changed very soon by buyer because of high costs and mediocre performance.

I have posted referrer info for the last 30 days. The site does well with SEO.

    Reserve is a very low $10,000! :)

No staff is staying on, though one former employee may be interested.

    Thank you!

  10. I'm assuming those numbers you posted (100k Uniques/220k Pag views) were some time ago? Youe Google Analytics is way off those numbers.

  15. Let me start of by saying Very nice site, I have a few questions before I bid. I don't see listed anywhere your ongoing costs. What did you pay your writers per hour $ and how many hours did they work to maintain the site. What were your server costs $? Could you include any other costs I may have forgotten to list here. I'm not a web designer, I'm more of a business man with an extreme interest for video games, how difficult would it be for someone with limited html experience to maintain this site and update the articles? Are the trademarks and patents included in the sale, do you have any? Were they prepared by a professional attorney who completed a comprehensive search against other trademarks/copyrights? It says site access is not verified, can you have this verified, I think it would make everyone a little more comfortable. Thanks in advance.

  16. I almost forgot, as far as marketing is concerned how many hours did you spend, sources you used, costs $. You can PM me the answer to this one if you would like. I have a sense of the marketing strategies you used from the screen shots provided, but I would like to clarify with you also. I'm trying to get a sense of the profitability.

  17. the ultimate demise of your site is that it's rarely available...and parts of your site are broken.

I've tried several times to access your site in the past few days...it only came up once. It either never loads, returns errors, or is very slow.

  18. I completely agree with jpollar. Your site has perhaps the single worst server in the world.

Also, your stats indicate that each visitor (statistically) visit 2.2 pages. In other words, the majority leave at the first page view, and a select handful actually go further into your website.

  19. agreed - server needs to be changed ASAP :)

2.2 pageviews per visitor? not that unusual for sites that get traffic from social media like stumbleupon and digg.

  22. What are the specs of the server that is performing so poorly?

Rackspace is supposed to be high end - redundant.
