MMA Root - 900K-1.1M PV's/month, $1.5K-$2K/month (Huge Potential)

PR 4, 18,000+ backlinks, the site's growth is just getting started

  • URL: http://www.mmaroot.com/
  • Established: Tue, 18 Mar 2008 13:00:00 GMT
  • Uniques/Month: 475,000
  • Page views/month: 100,000
  • Monthly Revenue (USD): 1,750
  • Google Pagerank: 4
  • Listed: Tue, 02 Dec 2008 16:39:44 GMT

Description:

I'll keep this as straight-forward as possible.

The site for sale is MMA Root

  • 900K-1.1M PV's/month
  • $1.5K-$2K/month
  • PR 4 and over 18,000 backlinks
  • Around 3K-4K repeat visitors a day
  • Custom design and logo
  • vBulletin license
  • Over 1,100 posts

Notes:

The site has barely been monetized to its true potential, my main income on the site is through CPM (Tribal Fusion 1st tier and ValueClick 2nd tier), ticket sales and bodog. Putting AdSense up alone will increase the revenue drastically.

It takes about 10-15 minutes daily to update the site

I will share with the buyer everything I know about the niche and how to grow the site further

The site has gotten DMCA's from two MMA companies in it's eight month history

You can't post UFC videos anymore

My suggestion:

Turn the site into an MMA news site, they're even more popular than MMA video sites.

Questions? Just ask.

Revenue Details:

Main revenue is through CPM - Tribal Fusion 1st tier and ValueClick 2nd tier.

The rest is through ticket sales and bodog.

Traffic Details:

Traffic is from search engines, sites linking in, and repeat visitors.

Questions to the Seller

  1. Hammerfist,

whats the significence of "root" in mmmaroot.com, just wondering why you picked that? Actually hammerfist.com is not a bad name for a mma news/video site. Also how much do hosting and marketing costs take out of the 1500-2000 monthly revenue? What mma organizations does your site follow besides ufc, not that elite xc has folded? Thanks.

  2. I picked root because it refers to the source of MMA.

I have a dedicated server which costs me around $260 a month, but please note that there are other sites on this server. I think a VPS will work for this site alone.

    There aren't any marketing costs.

Besides the UFC there's Dream, Sengoku, Strikeforce, Shooto, Pancrase, K-1, and a lot of other regional/international organizations. But like I said in the auction, I suggest you use the sites potential and turn it into a news site as there's a lot more money there than there is in posting videos.

  4. According to compete.com, 38% of your traffic comes from the keyword "kimbo slice vs seth petruzelli". Do you have google analytics?

  5. @ noonanco,

    I've message you the details.

Updating sites and taking care of them on a daily basis is not my thing, I'm getting rid of these sites and moving onto something else.

Compete is wrong, that keyword sent a lot of traffic in October (that's when the fight was, October 4th) but it's not 38% of my traffic.

  6. Can you please send me the google analytics because I would also like to see which keywords you rank for and the competiton in it, before placing a bid. I need to know as much detail as possible and how much work is required?

  7. Hi, why are you selling?

Also, how or where do you get content to post?

How have you been marketing the site, I saw a spike in traffic few months ago.

  8. @ MelvinNG

I've sent you more detailed stats.

It takes about 10-15 minutes a day to make 3-4 posts.

    @ dreamynsx

I'm selling because I don't like taking care of and looking after this site everyday.

There are hundreds of fighter tags and thousands of posts in WordPress, you just have to pick a fighter, look up his record, pick a fight and find it through Google video search.

I've been marketing the site through SEO. Spikes in traffic happen all the time across most MMA sites when there are PPV events.

  10. Hey,

I'm very interested in this site

Do you have a list of sites where you normally get your content from? Would the buyer be able to update this site without being familiar with the niche?

  11. @ Nica09

I search for videos on Google video search, but I can of course provide you with a great list of MMA sites to get content from.

Sure, it gets pretty addicting too. I have to say I wasn't really into MMA before I started the site, I just followed it casually. The sport really grew on me as I progressed with the site. I think it's a niche anyone can do because it's a sport everyone understands - two guys fighting.
