What are Marketplace Credits used for?
Marketplace Credits are used to create listings in all categories of the SitePoint Marketplace, except the free ones. [Questions]
My credits are showing up but my listing/auction does not
This could indicate that you have not fully completed the "Create a Listing" process - possibly because at the end of the process you might not have selected the checkbox to say that you have read our terms and conditions.
If you start the create process again - you will find that you get the chance to reload your previously entered auction details. At the end of the 'Create' process, you should get confirmation that your listing has been posted with a link at the end of the page to view your new auction or listing. [Questions]
What is a reserve price? How do I change it?
A reserve price is the lowest amount you want to sell for.
The seller must specify a reserve price for an auction. The reserve price is secret and is never revealed to anyone else.
If an auction ends and nobody has matched the reserve price, Reserve Not Reached
will show in the auction status box and
a winning bidder will not be declared. The auction holder can lower the
reserve price at any time by clicking the "Lower Reserve Price" link on their auction details page.
[Questions]
How long can an auction last? How can I shorten it?
The maximum length an auction can be open is 30 days. After an auction expires, it remains greyed out on the site for a further 30 days, but will no longer be listed on the front page or category listing pages.
The auction holder may choose to end the auction early at any point by clicking on the "End Auction Early" link on the auction details page. The auction holder can also shorten the length of the auction at any time by clicking on "Edit Auction Details" and reducing the auction duration. [Questions]
Can the seller re-open an auction?
No. Once the auction has ended, it cannot be re-opened. The auction holder can re-list the auction, without retyping all the details, by clicking on "Relist this Auction" on the auction details page. [Questions]
Can the seller sell more than one item per auction?
No. SitePoint only allow the sale of one item per auction. [Questions]
Can the seller cancel an auction or declare a winner at any time?
Yes, the seller is able to cancel any open auction, at any time, by clicking on the "End Auction Early" link.
The seller may also choose to end the auction early so that the highest bid will automatically be declared the winner if the reserve price has been met. [Questions]
Can the seller edit the auction details during the auction?
If no bids have yet been received, the seller has full access to edit the details of the auction, including fields which describe what is being sold.
If one or more bids have been received, the seller only has limited access to edit the auction, and cannot edit fields such as the description of what is being sold. This is because the bids were made based on the information present at the time the bidding commenced. If any clarifications need to be made, the seller should make them in the comments section at the bottom of the auction page. [Questions]
Can the bidder retract an accepted bid?
No. Neither the bidder nor the seller can retract accepted bids as all bids are legally binding. Bidders should get all their questions answered before bidding, and satisfy themselves that the seller will honor any conditions or requests associated with the bid.
If the bid is pending and has not yet been accepted, the bid can be retracted by the auction holder if the bidder directly contacts the auction holder to arrange this. [Questions]
Help! My Marketplace credits aren't showing up.
Marketplace credits, when purchased with PayPal, may take up to one hour to show up in your account due to frequent problems associated with PayPal's "Instant Payment Notification" system. If your credits don't show up within an hour, please contact us. [Questions]
Which currency are all the prices in?
All prices are in United States Dollars only. [Questions]
