To those who have advertised with us before, you know that we limit the number of ad units we sell each month. We once again got lazy and forgot to renew our listing on Sitepoint, so almost all of our ad space is available (we did this once before a couple months ago).

We've also given Glowfoto a pretty major facelift, so if you haven't looked at the site recently, definitely do so.

Photo sharing site glowfoto.com is offering 468x60 banner space at the very low rate of $25 per month. CPM rates are also available (see site for details). Text ads are $10 a month.

Glowfoto currently serves 10 million pages per month, with 30,000 uniques per day. See mini-FAQ below for some more site stats.

468x60 Banners

The buy in rate is just $25 for one month. If you purchase an auto-renewing ad you will lock in the $25 rate. So even if we raise the price to $500, as long as your ad is auto-renewing, you will still be paying $25.

Limit: We will not sell more than 60 banners per month (but we typically sell around 30)

Text Ads

Text ads are also available for $10 per month as shown below:

Text ads are currently the deal of the century. We are extremely undersold, and text ads are getting tens of thousands of impressions daily for around 30 cents a day. The current estimated CPM on text ads is $0.03. Feel free to buy a bunch of them, there is plenty of room, and they are cheap.

Text ads are also a great way to get some clicks over to your affiliate pages. We have several advertisers running CPA URLs in the text ad spots.

Mini FAQ

We got a lot of questions last round, so I'll do my best to answer them here:

Q: How many times will my ad show?

That depends of course on how many pages we serve and how many people buy banners in a given month. Currently both banner and text ads are doing close to 300,000 impressions each per 30 day period.

Q: How can I get more impressions?

Buy multiple banners. One of the reasons we are trying to keep the rate low is that we want to be able to offer advertising to those on a smaller budget, while still allowing those with a larger budget to buy a bigger piece of the pie. Each ad unit you buy is a "share" of the total impressions. So if you have a large budget, buy multiple shares to increase your visibility.

Q: How do I pay/how long until my banner shows up?

Payments are handled by PayPal, and banners go live the minute your payment is processed.

Q: What kind of banner/site can I advertise?

Banners, and the URLs they point to, must be work safe (meaning no nudity in the banner, no nudity on the page it links to).

Q: I don't have a banner!

We can make one for you. Just let us know your needs. Or, buy a text ad. They are extremely undersold right now. That's about the best $10 you can spend in advertising.

Q: What if you oversell? Will I get hardly any impressions?

We will not oversell. At any time we reach 30 banners in rotation, we will no longer accept new banners until someone drops out. Assuming our traffic doesn't increase at all, that means in the worst case, you will get around 170,000 impressions for $25. That's less than 0.15 CPM in the worst case. Right now, we're only about 30% sold, which means triple the impressions and a third the CPM. Even in the worst case you can't find CPM like that on a popular media sharing site anywhere. I know, because we used to run network CPM ads for 3 years.

Q: Can I monitor my ad's performance?

Yes, in real-time even. Here's what it looks like:

Just make sure you create a Glowfoto account and log into it before creating your ad. If you forget, just email us your account name and we'll connect the two.

Q: Can I use a flash/swf file for my banner ad?

Yes, but we haven't automated .swf ad creation yet. Submit a banner ad with a gif or jpg image as a dummy banner. After you pay for the ad, contact us and we will replace your banner with the swf you send us.
Q: Why is it so cheap?

No middle man! Believe it or not, since we started selling our own ad space, we're actually bringing in more revenue than we did with the big ad networks (and we used them all). AND, our advertisers are getting CPM rates that the ad networks would never accept. The current average CPC for our text ads is between 2 and 4 cents. The minimum bid on AdSense is 0.05, and that bid virtually guarantees that your ad won't get shown. With us, your ad gets shown thousands of times a day. It's better for us, it's better for our advertisers... everybody wins.

Q: Anything else?

Yep. Remember that you are paying for a month, not by the click and not by the impression. What that means is that when a Glowfoto hosted photo makes the front page of D;gg, your banner is going to get thousands more impressions that day -- and, banner ads and text ads run at the top of the landing page. So... when you submit a photo to D;gg, reddit, or anywhere else make sure it's hosted on Glowfoto. We have been on D;gg's front page several times, and during the biggest hit our landing page got hit a million times in one day. That means your ad is getting that kind of visibility.
