We are looking for a Ruby developer with experience using Rails, Capistrano, writing tests and generally maintaining a production environment for on-going work on a large social networking website. You will be maintaining the application as well as expanding it with new features.

You will largely be dictating your own schedule, but it would be very useful for both parties involved if you could maintain a sort-of consistent working pattern. English fluency is essential, as you would be expected to keep good contact with whom you will be working for (preferably via Skype), either constantly as-you-work, or just for intermittent status updates.

Your duties will be to develop and deploy new features for the website and while an established history in UI design will be useful, it is not essential for this position. You will, however need to be well versed in the technologies that comprise the environment hosting the app (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Memcached, Phusion Passenger / mod_rails).

Examples will be necessary. We won't require you to show us the code of any previous work, as we understand industrial privacy can be a concern, but you will need to show us any working versions of previous applications.

You can be located anywhere in the world, although I must stress again that good English communication skills are very important.

$20 /hour, which is negotiable - hours worked will be as needed (average probably 3-4 hours a day, but this can heavily fluctuate based on whatever is currently being done).
