I've made over 1,000 USD only with one project and 1,300 USD with all of them

I’ve made over 1,300 USD with the following projects, but I want to sell them as I don’t have the time to maintain them, while there is potential that they generate much better income.

 

Way back in October and November 2007 I’ve purchased the following projects from individual auctions here in the Sitepoint MarketPlace.

 

 

PROJECTS

The Web sites I’ve purchased at that moment are:

1) http://www.comnerd.com/

2) http://www.dietbarn.com/

3) http://www.medicalperson.com/

4) http://www.seocube.com/

5) http://www.traveleap.com/

6) http://www.realestaterave.com/

7) http://www.wealthlead.com/

I’ve paid for each and every web site in between 120 to 127 USD, say an average of 125 USD.

At that time I recall it was something close to 900 USD.

 

 

WHAT I’VE GOT

What I’ve got from the seller was a wordpress installation for each project which included:

1) database of articles (in between 1,200 to 2,500 articles per project);

2) a wordpress installation per project;

3) each site with its own interface (as wordpress theme);

4) a wordpress plugin which to publish a new article every day from its database of draft articles.

 

These articles were from free ezines and other online source according to the seller.

 

CHANGES I’VE MADE

Since then I’ve made the following changes:

1) switched the project to movable type as I’ve been more familiar with it;

2) manually published articles as there is no plugin in MT which to publish a new article per day, unless you manually schedule articles to be published on specific days or just publish them right on that moment;

3) added some extra features like “daily newsletter” (using FeedBurner), social bookmarking, send to a friend and “other articles” (related articles) to all the projects switched to movable type, excepting http://www.realestaterave.com/ and http://www.wealthlead.com/.

 

 

MONEY I’VE MADE

I’ve also tried to monetize these projects with AdSense and Text Link Ads (http://www.text-link-ads.com).

 

The results I had are:

1) AdSense

In the period October 22, 2006 - October 8, 2009

I’ve got 71,501 visits and 1,026 clicks

This generated 277.58 USD

(I can prove this with Google AdSense statistics).

This money have been generated only by 5 proejcts, as I didn’t try to monetize the http://www.realestaterave.com/ and http://www.wealthlead.com/  projects.

 

2) Text Link ADS

I’ve monetized only the www.dietbarn.com project.

Since July 2007 when I’ve subscribed to Text Link ADS, I’ve made 1031.46 USD with dietbarn.com

The first month, July 2007, I’ve made 12.75 USD.

The highest month was May 2008 when I’ve made 69.50 USD.

At the moment, in September 2009 the income is at 20.41 USD, as it was also on August 2009.

(I can prove all the above)

 

Unfortunately I didn’t have and I will surely not have the time to maintain these projects.

If you will have a look at them you will see that I didn’t publish new items since beginning of 2008, nevertheless publishing an item means logging in and changing a post status from “draft” to “publish”.

I’m very busy at work that I just cannot find the time to dedicate to these projects.

 

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Ideally, the new owner would:

1) submit all these Web sites to the RSS Top 55 guide from http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/

2) login to them and publish 1-2 articles a day by changing posts status from draft to publish;

3) eventually publish even newer posts from other media sources (this would be very helpful);

4) place links from other sources like blogs, back to these Web sites to increase their PR;

5) monetize them with AdSense and Text Link ADS or other systems.

 

 

WHAT I’M OFFERING

I’m glad to give the new owner the following:

1) the first 5 projects in movable type and the other 2 in wordpress;

Or

2) all the projects in wordpress as I’ve got them from the auctions in 2006;

3) push the domains to the new seller.

 

At the moment the first 5 project for all the 7 ones listed here are not fully automated as they are running on Movable Type, but I would be glad to make them fully automatic by either buying a plugin for movable type to automate them or by just switching them back to wordpress.
